Obituary

Eunice May Edelman

December 27, 1932 – April 3, 2022

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Eunice May Edelman at the age of 89 in Fort St. John, BC.

Eunice was born in Last Lake, Alberta and grew up in Brownvale with her parents, granny and 12 siblings. She married Erwin Edelman in October of 1950 and lived in Alberta where they had their first two daughters and son. They moved to Fort St John, BC in 1957 where their youngest daughter was born.  Eunice was a wonderful mother, wife and friend.  She loved gardening, animals, going for daily coffee with her husband, caring for her grandchildren who lived in Fort St John and visiting those who lived in the Vancouver area and Whitehorse, Yukon.  With her husband Erwin, they hosted every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and every other holiday dinner for decades. These were the best meals their children and grandchildren can remember.  Eunice did all the cleaning and baking and Erwin the cooking.  Afterwards we would all play board games.   The children and grandchildren did nothing except fully enjoy the food and fun with the family.  This tradition has been passed on to Donna and Danny and their family in Fort St John.

Eunice loved music and could always be found humming songs, in her garden, cleaning or dusting something.  Most of all she loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and  we don’t remember a time when they didn’t make her smile.

Eunice is predeceased by her husband Erwin, many of her siblings, her parents and granny who she loved.  Her sister Joyce at 92 was one of her favorite people who she loved to visit.  Eunice is survived by her three daughters Norma (Wayne), Sandra (Nick), Donna (Danny) and her son Brian (Sue).  Eunice had 6 grandchildren, Dustin, Devon, Spencer, Ariana, Alex and Sam.  At last count she had 17 great grandchildren.

Eunice, more often called Nana, will always be remembered in our hearts and minds. Until we meet again.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Fort St John, BC SPCA.

Celebration of life for Eunice will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 1 pm at Hamre's Funeral Chapel.
