    On Monday, March 28, 2022, the Lord called Manuel Solano home to Heaven. Manuel was born on May 21,1947 in San Ignacio, NM. To Ignacio and Agneda Solano.  Manuel was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Sorows Parish and was a proud Hermano de La Morada de Nuestro Padre Jesus de San Ignacio.  He retired from New Mexico Highlands University with 30 dedicated years.  He was also a volunteer firefighter in his community.  Manuel was a very hardworking and devoted man.  He met the love of his life, Berlin Garcia while attending school in Albuquerque, NM. They spent 55 wonderful years together and created a great family and wonderful memories.  Manuel enjoyed traveling with his wife.  They were well known for gatherings at their home with friends and family.  Manuel was always ready for an adventure, whether it was treasure hunting, wine tasting, camping, hunting, fishing, cruising, or on occasion a drag race.  Manuel made friends everywhere he went.  He enjoyed BBQ’s & looking for deer with his son. Manuel had a strong relationship with his children and grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers (Cruz, Juanito, & Wilfred); his sister, Beneranda; grandson Kaleb Vigil; and numerous family and friends.

            Manuel is survived by his wife Berlin Solano; children: Jonathan Solano and wife Amber, Susanna and husband Mathew; Manuel’s siblings: Rubel, Mary, Juanita, and Angie; many godchildren, nieces and nephews.  Pamela and Patricia were like daughters to them.  His grandchildren:  Michael (Mia), Pamela (Chris), Angelica (Donovan), Mariah (Gabriel), Bethany Jabien, Valentine, and numerous great-grandchildren.

            A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd, Las Vegas, NM. A rosary will be recited by his Hermanos on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Rob Yaksich on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 9:00 A.M from Our Lady of Sorrow Church. The interment will follow in the San Ignacio Catholic Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Donovan Velasquez, Chris Muniz, Michael Helm, Nash Solano, George Cowden, and DeAngelo Rodriquez.  Manuel will always be loved and greatly missed!  “Rest in the grace of the world, and am free”.
