Leslie Wayne Louder Obituary

WATCH LIVE FUNERAL STREAM HERE (11:00 AM MDT)

On March 30, 2022, our family lost the most important and dependable part of our family.  Our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and Brother, Les Louder.  Our lives will never be the same.  He was our Rock, our teacher, our referee, but most of all our example.

Les Louder was born February 19, 1947 to Leland F. Louder and Marvel Nelson Louder.  He was a beautiful baby from the start and brought much joy to his family.  In his early years he lived in Pleasant Grove by several Walker families never imagining his future wife was related to them all.   After moving back to American Fork, he graduated from American Fork High School in 1965 and soon decided on a career as a Refrigeration Pipefitter.   He spent a couple more years in school and earned his Journeyman Refrigeration Pipefitter Degree.  He married his lifetime loved and sweetheart Laurie Deveraux on July 21, 1973.  They were sealed in the Provo Temple in 1980.

Les and Laurie bought their first home in Lehi, where they lived for almost three years.  During this time Les’ father Lee was diagnosed wit liver /pancreatic cancer. Les did all he could to make things as easy on his Dad but on November 6, 1975, Lee passed away.

Les struggled with what he could do to most help his mother and younger brother Jess get through all of this.

Their first daughter Shannan was born July 8, 1976 while in Lehi.  Before their second child, a son Shane was born two years later, the Louders had built their present home where they have lived for over 46 years. Three years after Shane was born came baby number three, our sweet daughter Sharlee.

Les had a great love of camping and became a member of the Big Horn Ranch.  He served for many years on their board and also helped with getting water to the campgrounds.  This great experience in his life continued until his massive heart attack in 2009.

Because of the altitude and other health concerns, he had to give up this part of his life. It broke our hearts as he had to sell his ranch shares and then his trailer.  But this then enabled him to become “Super Grandpa”

He would tend, buy treats, give rides, take the kids anywhere and spend hours watching endless videos with his kids.

He loved his church callings but especially his 17 years in the scouting program.  Les loved his Heavenly Father and knew all would be “OK”.

Above all the rest, his love for his family will never be questioned.

Dad is survived by his wife Laurie of 49 years, children: Shannan Louder (Howard) Gurney, Shane (Becky) Louder, and Sharlee Louder (Bonnie).  Grandchildren: Kaden & Shandee Louder Frost, Austin & Peyton Gurney Walker, Myken Gurney (Jack Bentley), Shantell Louder, Shelby Rothe and Daltyn Gurney. With a new great grandson Jordan Michael Walker due in August. Siblings: Cindy Louder Christensen, Jesse Louder (Suzie) and brother-in-law David Johnson.  Many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends whom he loved so much. Preceded in death by his parents Leland and Marvel Louder, sister: Nanette Louder and Cheryl Louder Johnson, in-laws, Dale and Louise Deveraux, brother-in-law Wayne Christensen and many other family and friends.

We express great appreciation to all his medical doctors who have fought endlessly to help Les.  With love especially to Dr. Douglas Mower who has watched over Les for almost 30 years with love and great concern.

May we always remember how much Dad and Grandpa loved us all.

Les, my love, may you now rest from your wearies and pain. Until we meet again.
