Jewell Lorene Taylor

Jewell Mahaffey Taylor went to be with Jesus on April 3, 2022, at 94 years of age. Jewell was born June 15, 1927, at McCaulley, Texas, to Roy Mahaffey and Nettie Mahaffey.

She was the second of seven children. She married Tommy Carter and that marriage produced two children, Darryel and Peggy, both now deceased. After Tommy was killed in an accident, she later married Charles Davis and had three children, Danny (deceased), Pam and Tammy. When Charles died a few years later, Jewell raised the three girls alone, working various jobs with only an elementary education.
Jewell cared for her mother Nettie, as well until her death and later married Dillard Taylor, caring for him also until his death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and three children. She is survived by one brother, Jimmy of Cordova, Tennessee, stepson Don Davis of Breckenridge, Texas, daughters Pam Young & husband Matt of Abilene, Texas, Tammy Mcfarland & husband Rob of Lubbock, Texas, seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Proverbs 31 verses 10-31 describe a worthy woman and Jewell fit this description well, however, verse 30 perhaps best of all "Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 6:00-8:00pm Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, 3349 N 12th St, Abilene, Texas 79603.
A service will be on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 9:00 am at Grace Baptist Church, 1036 Todd Trail, Abilene, Texas 79602. Burial will be at Mccaulley Cemetery, Co Rd 286 Mccaulley, 79534.
