Melvin D. Carpenter, 72, of Orangeburg, husband of Brenda Meadows Carpenter, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Hospice of Hope in Maysville. He was born on July 17, 1943 in Fleming County, a son of Naomi Frances Wagner Carpenter of Foxport and the late Melvin Edgar Carpenter. Melvin was a lifelong farmer and landowner. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by: two sons, Troy (Penny) Carpenter, and Trent (Bridget) Carpenter, both of Orangeburg; a daughter, Michelle Carpenter of Mason County; four grandsons, Kurtis (Erica) Carpenter, and Kyle Carpenter, both of Maysville, and Robert and Samuel Carpenter, both of Orangeburg; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Carpenter of Maysville; a brother, Eric (Aileen) Carpenter of Mt. Carmel; and a sister, Mona (Bill) Beckett of Foxport. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Mason Harrod. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Monday, November 23rd at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
