John “Noodles” Mazzola, Jr., 78, of Fayetteville passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
John was born on January 28, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late, John B. Mazzola and Catherine Finazzo.
A man of many “Hats”, John served in the Army Reserve as well as a Fayetteville City Firefighter in the 60’s when he arrived in Fayetteville. He was a Bench Jeweler and through the years has worked with several jewelry stores, he was currently employed with Jerry's Pawn Shop. He was a member of Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge #679 and a member of Hope Mills Shrine Club, where he served as past president. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 145 and the Pythias Cumberland Lodge #5. He was also a licensed Pyrotechnician and his passion was fireworks and loud explosions.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Wade Mazzola; siblings, Rose Verne, Catherine Mazzola, and Vincent Mazzola.
He is survived by his son, Joseph A. Mazzola, and wife Tina; daughter, Christine Shipley; sister, Jacqueline Panacciulli; grandchildren, Aidan Newsome, Victoria Viglietta, Samantha Mazzola, Shea Shipley, Anthony Mazzola; stepchildren, Jimmy Willis, Stacey Sykes, Mark Willis, Douglas Mudge, Rhonda Cain, Renee Tatum, and Ronnie Sykes; numerous step grand and great grandchildren; his best friend, Maryann Mazzola; and the mother of his children, Carolyn Gordy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Shriner's Hospital for Children or to St. Jude Children's Research Hosptial.
