Kosta “Gus” Kokoris, 80, passed away at his home on Sunday March 27, 2022. He was the son of George and Maria Kokoris, both of Greece. Kosta was born in Xatzhe (Aigio) Greece May 18, 1941. He served in the Greek Army.
In the mid 1970’s Kosta moved to the United States, New Haven , CT, where he met and married his wife Sotiria “Loula” Kokoris. In 1978 Kosta and his family relocated to Ithaca, NY, where he and his longtime friend and business partner Pete Papachrysanthou, opened The Souvlaki House. In 1993 Kosta opened his own restaurant, Lansing Pizza until he retired in 2000.
Kosta is predeceased by his wife Loula Kokoris, his sister Georgia Nikas, brothers Nick Kokoris, and Dimitrios Kokoris and his parents. He is survived by his 3 children; George (Holly) Kokoris of Boston; Demitros “Jimmy” Kokoris of Syracuse and Maria Kokoris of Farmville, VA, his sisters Sophia (Andre) Christopoulos, Asemo Karathanasi, Ana Tsatsos, two grand-children, Jax Kokoris and Sophia Kokoris as well as his nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, at 11am. The family will greet friends from 10am -11am before the service. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
