Julie Beth (Harlan) Kinney, 54, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, formerly of Somerset, passed away at 2:24 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at her sisters’ residence following a long illness. Julie was born October 27, 1967, the daughter of JoEllen (Krouskoupf) Harlan of Thornville, and the late Thomas Harlan. She was a 1985 graduate of Sheridan High School and received an Associate Degree in nursing from C.O.T.C. Julie was a registered nurse and served as Director of Nursing with decades of nursing experience at various nursing homes and hospitals. She gave her life to her patients and family. Julie was an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan, loved horse races and was an 80’s rock music enthusiast. She was a former waitress at the Clay Haus Restaurant in Somerset and Heath Red Lobster. She was a member of Colonial City Moose, the Kokosing Eagles, and was a baptized Christian. She is survived in addition to her mother, by her husband, John E. Kinney of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Kody (Alison) Metzger and Andrew Metzger, both of Thornville; one granddaughter, Lucy Metzger; a stepson, Christian Wyman; one sister, Kathy (Gene) Launder and two brothers, Wesley (Laureen) Harlan and Philip Harlan, all of Thornville; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Doug Lynn officiating.
