Obituary
On March 25, 2022, James Edwards, loving husband and father of 2 children, passed away at age 84. James was born on April 05, 1937 in Kimball, WV to Jess and Docia (Hawks) Edwards. He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 16, and proudly served in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he worked in construction for over 40 years. Most notably, he worked on the Alaskan pipeline in the late 60's and early 70's. On August 28, 1970, he married Betty “ Laura” Hopkins. They raised two sons, Andrew and Joel. James, Jim to his friends, Jimmy to his siblings, was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed the company of his many friends. He dedicated many years building and cultivating his cattle farm. He loved, and had an aptitude for operating and repairing heavy equipment. Which coincided well with both his career in construction and farming pastime. He believed in hard work and admired others who felt the same. He was also an avid baseball and country music fan. He had an indomitable spirit that made him a great model for perseverance through adversity. James was preceded in death by his father Jess, his mother Docia, and his sisters Catherine, Maxine, Elaine, and Barbara. He is survived by his wife Laura, two children Andrew and Joel, daughter in law Candi Edwards, two grandchildren Christian and Heather Edwards, his brother Douglas, sisters Ethelene, Eldean (Ed) and many nieces, and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 at the Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart, VA with Pastor Richard Dodson officiating.
