Obituary

After a courageous journey of riding and racing on the waves of life, from the highest peaks to the flattest and most calm waters, Lynn’s journey finally came to an end. Lynn rejoins his parents and his three brothers.

Lynn leaves behind his wife and best friend Debbie, children Christa (& Scott), Dean (& Robyn) Stepchildren Adam (& Marcia) and Kristi (& Heather) and Grandchildren; Lily and Zachary, Keith and Nolen, Caelan, Keinan and Kenslie, Jo and Jake; favourite nephew Gerry; Sisters Phyllis and Paulette; numerous nephews and nieces; and our adopted family neighbours Pam, David, Doug, Sarah and kids.

Lynn had many loves in his life. Among them; his first car - the blue corvair; his first wife Marilyn - the mother of his children; his involvement with the Sea Cadet corps in Trail and Duncan, BC; Sailing wherever and whenever he could; his second wife Debbie and her children; and looking for new challenges to overcome. He loved us all in a very special way and never liked to hurt anyone. Family was important and he spoke highly of all of us, especially bragging about his children and stepchildren. As much as he loved family, sailing was very much his special love, and his line was “if you want to spend time with me, get on the boat”.

Lynn retired from the cable industry after 30 plus years, starting as a lineman in Saskatchewan working for his brother Ken, and then moving through being an installer, designer and finishing as regional manager in more than one part of BC. Lynn was a member of the Legion for about 40 years everywhere he went, was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club, and was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves working with the Sea Cadets for 20+ years.

In recent years, Lynn was an active member of the Maple Bay Yacht Club and Metchosin Emergency Operations Centre. He also enjoyed woodworking, challenging himself by creating many beautiful items from wood turning, wooden silhouettes, numerous cabinets and assisting his friend David to build a few buildings. Lynn convinced Debbie that they should sail their boat to Mexico so for the next ten years they travelled around Mexico, using Mazatlan as a home base where Lynn made numerous boating friends. Life was always full of adventures and travelling experiences that made him wonder and laugh. No matter where we travelled, Lynn was always looking up to see how the cable lines and connections were done. Always there to help a friend in need or offer his expertise to solve a problem, he always seemed to approach life with a quiet inner strength, patience and a positive and happy point of view. We know he will be watching over us, knowing we are all ok.

Rest in peace Lynn.

The family wishes to thank the West Shore Health community home care workers and the wonderful staff at Victoria Hospice and Palliative care dept.
