.

Obituary
Teresa ‘Baby Girl’ Maxine Newberry Brown
On March 24, 2022, Teresa Maxine Newberry Brown transitioned to her heavenly home. Born on October 6, 1959 to the late Charlie and Rubye Allen Newberry in Hawkinsville, Georgia, she was the tenth child of thirteen children. She shared a birthday with younger sister, Althea who is exactly ten years younger.
Being the tenth child, in between two older brothers, one younger brother, and two younger sisters, Teresa always said she had to do everything. She had to cook, clean, take care of her younger sisters, the animals, the farm, you name it, Teresa did it.
Teresa was truly a comedienne and could make anything funny. The life of the party, she was always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. Teresa graduated from Perry High School in 1977. Upon graduating high school, she earned a degree in Cosmetology from South Georgia Technical College in 1980.
Before starting her own business, she learned the art of hair styling working at Faye Lane’s Hair Salon. She then opened her own hair salon, “Styles by Teresa” in Hawkinsville, Georgia. For years, Teresa styled the tresses (hair) of the women of Hawkinsville. She kept up with the latest trends styling her clients with beautifully coiffed crowns. She was also well known for her customer service as she spent many hours conversing with clients.
Teresa Maxine Newberry was joined in holy matrimony on June 1, 1996 to the late Stacey A. Brown. As a child, she gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Haynesville Baptist Church. As a member of Haynesville, she sang in the choir and served as an usher.
Teresa always strove to live her best life. She would tell funny stories, make jokes, and she loved watching TV! Her favorite TV shows were Oprah, Wendy Williams, The Real, The Talk and Family Feud. In fact, to her many nieces and nephews, she was known as the “Fun Aunt.”
Teresa would style her nieces’ hair for special occasions such as Easter. Also, she would host her nieces and nephews for sleepovers allowing them to watch movies, play games and listen to music. She was a dedicated Auntie who loved her nieces and nephews as her own.
She was also a loving mother to daughter Lorielle. Teresa always made sure Lorielle was involved in extracurricular activities like cheerleading and dance. She’d style Lorielle in the cutest outfits and hairstyles. Blessingly, she lived to see Lorielle get married to Jabyron Washington and have two children Rosa & Jalen.
Teresa was socially active in her community and loved people. She loved God and walked in the path of the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Lorielle (Jabyron) Washington and grandchildren Rosa and Jalen Washington, Grovetown, GA; siblings, Mary (Tommy) Owens, New Haven, CT; Mildred (Eugene) Kenny, North Branford, CT; Bernice (Johnny) Edwards Hamden, CT; Harold Stubbs, Hawkinsville , GA; Myrtle (Aaron) Tookes, Lithonia, GA; Cedric (Lillie) Newberry, Cincinnati, OH; Iris Newberry, Hawkinsville, GA; Julius Newberry, Hawkinsville, GA; Jeffery (Janice) Newberry, Riverdale, GA; Marcus (Florine) Newberry, Warner Robins, GA; Charlene (Mark) Jones, Conyers, GA; Althea (Chris) Brown Schertz, TX; godchildren Mark Anthony Jones II, Winston Salem, NC and Christopher Michael Brown, Schertz, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
