Virgil H. Carlson, 90, passed away on March 24, 2022, at the Warren Manor. Virgil was born on October 21, 1931, in Ludlow, PA, the son of the late Ernest Henry William Carlson and Verda Maine Carlson. He was a mechanic in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Virgil used his electrical and refrigeration talents working for the Walker’s Dairy, the New Process Company, and the Warren State Hospital, from which he retired. He was involved in the Warren Wesleyan Church as a lay leader, Sunday School superintendent and song leader for the choir, and later a longtime member of the Warren First Church of the Nazarene where he was an usher, missionary president, board member, choir, and worked at the food pantry for many years. Virgil was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Virgil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Donna M. Larson Carlson, whom he married on June 30, 1953; four children Ernest Carlson and wife Mitzi of Concord, NC, Crystal Nelson and husband Lawrence of Warren, PA, Rebecca Fuller of Warren, PA, and Bethany Nuttal and husband John of Warren, PA; nine grandchildren Mindy Ferguson of N.C., John Carlson of N.C., Craig Nelson of Warren, PA, Amber Groopman of Alexandria VA, Jessicca Byler of Warren, PA, Jacqueline Vincent of Warren, PA, Johanna Gray of Warren, PA, Allen Nuttal of Bear Lake, PA, Andrew Nuttal of Ohio; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Virgil is preceded in death by brothers Arnold Carlson and David Carlson and sister Norma Maine; son in law Alan Fuller; and an infant brother. Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Warren First Church of the Nazarene, 907 Penna Ave. East, Warren, PA from 10 am to 12 pm, at which time a funeral service will be held, with The Reverend J.
