Michael Aaron Barry Obituary

Michael Aaron Barry, aged 43, son to Thomas J. Barry and Jacqueline D. Barry (Smith); brother to Thomas W. Barry (Stephanie Barry) and Timothy W. Barry; Uncle to Tommy Linn-Barry, Marissa Barry and Aidan Barry; loving nephew, cousin, brother and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep March 21, 2022 after a 5 year battle with cancer. Mikey, as his loved ones and friends affectionately called him, was born Sept. 6, 1978. Mikey was the youngest son to Thomas and Jacqueline. From a young age he showed a fire from within that would be a driving force throughout his life and would be noticed by all that met him. He was a standout wrestler in highschool and became an accomplished BMX rider. His love of two wheels would carry over into adulthood where he would become a motorcycle enthusiast, taking numerous trips around the country with his brothers and friends. Mikey would also follow his fathers’s footsteps into the building trades, but chose to carve his own path and legacy becoming a proud and respected member of the Building Laborers Union Local 310, making life-long friends throughout his career. Mikey’s passion for music also burned very bright. Whether making his own or playing the songs of those he respected and was influenced by. Mikey was a self taught bass player also learning to write his own music. He was in several local bands including Dead Man’s Curve and The Park Place Beats. Mikey’s love for making and playing music knew no bounds which was evident by those that had the pleasure to see him play and play with him. Mikey was the genuine article, there was nothing fake about him. He would literally take the shirt off of his back to help someone in need. His hugs were as big and legendary as his heart. Mikey also had friends from all walks of life. He didn’t care what you looked like or what you did for a living if he thought you were a “Good egg” he would be your friend. A friend you could count on. To truly know Mikey, was to love Mikey. He will be greatly missed by those that love him. Family and friends welcomed SUNDAY, MARCH 27TH FROM2-4 & 6-8 PM AT WALTER MARTENS AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 9811 DENISON AVENUE where Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 AM.
