Rosario Montes, 88, of Silver City passed away March 19, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. 

Visitation will take place on Monday, March 28, 2022 from five to six in the evening. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 pm on Monday, March 28, 2022 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel.  The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.  Concluding service and burial will follow at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery.  Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele.  Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Arellano, Joseph Arellano, Alex Montes, Rigo Rodriguez, Mark Arellano, Cesar Gutierrez.

Rosario was born January 9, 1934 in Naco, Sonora, Mexico to Luis and Josefa Gutierrez.  She was a longtime resident of Silver City and was member of the Roman Catholic Church.  Rosario was very active in the Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and a lector at masses.  She was a Cursillista and member of the Altar Society as well as serving as a former president of the Guadalupanas.  A loving mother and grandmother, Rosario will be dearly missed.

Rosario is survived by her son Ramon Montes (Barbara); daughters, Lupe Provencio (Ernest), Marcella Arellano (Joseph), and Son in law, Armando Jaquez; brothers, Armando Gutierrez (Yolanda); sister Gloria Arellano; sister-in-law Matilde Gutierrez; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Montes; baby daughter, Rosario, daughter, Norma Jaquez; parents, Luis and Josefa Gutierrez; brothers, Luis and Hector Gutierrez; granddaughter, Melissa Arellano.
