Jonathan Brooks born in Saluda County SC on June 22, 1957, was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend to Pearline Brooks (Lina) and the late Joe Ben Brooks. He attended the public school in Saluda SC a graduate of the class of 1975 as a talented student athlete attended Clemson University where he played linebacker for the fighting Tigers from 1975-1979, He was all ACC in 1977also chosen for the SC All State College Football Team in 1977 and 1978 Jonathan would go on to be the first Saluda High graduate to play in the NFL and the USFL. He was drafted to the Detroit Lions and later played for the Atlanta Falcons.
In addition to his father who preceded him in death he also was preceded by an infant brother James, and a best friend and brother Richard Brooks and nephew Tevin Brooks.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Renee Brooks of Flagstaff, AZ., daughters Jenile Brooks-Rivers of Los Angeles, CA., and Celeste Bottomly (William) of Windsor, CO., sons, James Brooks (Veronika) of Prague, Czwch Republic, Mother Pearline (Lena) Brooks, brother Donald Brooks both of Saluda, SC., Frank Brooks of Washington, DC., sisters Marie Brooks of Saluda, SC and Annette Wesley (Willie) of Pontiac, MI., He was blessed with six grandchildren, Josiah, Solomon, Yonah, Zion, Chike and Atum Jonathan also a nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
