<p>Mark W. Mahoney, 65, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous 9 month battle with cancer.<br /> Mark was born April 3, 1956 to John W. and Mary (DeFrank) Mahoney in Canton, OH and had been an area resident his entire life. He was a Graduate of the University of Akron in December 1985, earning dual bachelor&#39;s degrees in Applied Mathematics &amp; Computer Science. He was employed in Information Technology most recently at Western Reserve Hospital.<br /> Mark was preceded in death by his parents Jack &amp; Mary (DeFrank) Mahoney and his sister Claudia Mahoney. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Jeri (Comer); children Erin (Sheridan) Phillips and Daniel Mahoney; granddaughter Brooklyn Phillips; siblings John M. (Mary) Mahoney, Karen (Steve) Fraser, Mary Ellen (Wes) Fritz and Kevin Mahoney; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.<br /> Mark was an extremely gifted photographer. He devoted a lot of time taking pictures at youth and high school sporting events in order to share his gift and give lasting memories to many families. That grew to him taking team sports photos for multiple schools in the area. His passion for photography grew to a profound love for landscape photography, traveling to many destinations to take breathtaking photos.<br /> In the weeks leading up to Mark&#39;s passing, many of his longtime friends and close colleagues called or visited him. Mark treasured these relationships and enjoyed reminiscing with them on the memories they made throughout the years. Mark was very grateful to have spent time with these cherished friends throughout his final days and weeks.<br /> Mark was a very private man keeping to himself, but if something was important to him, he was very passionate about it and you definitely knew it. Family was very important to him. He loved his siblings dearly and enjoyed the time spent with them over the years at various family picnics, special events and holidays. But everything he did in life was for his children. He cherished them most. As his time on earth drew closer to end, he expressed his regrets for not being here for his sister Claudia&#39;s Celebration of Life in May, not being able to watch his beloved granddaughter Brooklyn grow up and not being present for his grandson&#39;s birth in July. Mark will be dearly missed by his family.<br /> The family will receive friends Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 4 to 6pm at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Road, Uniontown, OH 44685 (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese Road) and will be followed by a brief memorial service at 6:00pm. The Celebration of Mark&#39;s Life will continue with a meal served at the Queen of Heaven Parish Activity Center, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown OH 44685 immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Green Professionals Association or Green All Sports Boosters.</p>
