Edmund William Englisbee Hughes died peacefully at home with his loving wife, Elizabeth and dog Beau by his side on March 18, 2022, after a long illness.  Edmund was a kind, loving and generous man.  He placed great value on family and friendship.   

Edmund was born and raised in New Orleans. He carried his deep love of its culture with him always and shared it everywhere he travelled or lived.  He was a graduate of De La Salle High School and received undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration from LSU.  His unique combination of intellect, sociability and joie d’ vivre buoyed him through a successful career as an executive in the international paper business.  At the time of his death, Edmund and Elizabeth were residing in Covington, Louisiana.

Edmund was predeceased by his parents, Edmund Favre Hughes and Agatha Englisbee, and his sister, Anais and her husband, Rodney Graf.  Edmund leaves behind his beloved wife Elizabeth, his stepson Lindsay Perret (Leigh) and petite granddaughters, Charlotte and Alexandra, of Durham, New Hampshire, son Edmund William Englisbee Hughes, Jr. (Alison) of Garner, North Carolina, granddaughters, Hannah, Haley and Heidi, great grandson, Samuel Weglein and his daughter, Katherine Mepham (Hampden) of Nashville.  

Edmund is also survived by his sister Katherine and her husband Rob Swenness of Arlington, Virginia, and his sister Ellen and her husband Geoffrey Green of Edinburg, Scotland. He was dearly loved Uncle Edmund to their children and the children of Anais and Rodney.  Edmund was a treasured cousin and friend.

Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 in New Orleans.  A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
