Margaret “Meg” C. McAfee Matamoras, PA Margaret C. McAfee (ne Redeker), known by everyone as Meg, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, March 19, 2022. She was 65 years old. She was born in Port Jervis, NY on May 6, 1956, the last of five children of the late Fred Redeker and Lucille Burns Redeker. She spent her youth in Matamoras, PA. Meg was passionate towards her friends and family and was one you could always turn to, possessing a smile and a laugh that would light up a room. Through her marriage she traveled across the country, calling numerous states her home. A crusader for animals and liberal causes, she will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, loving children and grandchild as well as her steadfast Yorkie, Londie. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Larry McAfee of Matamoras, PA, sons Ryan McAfee of Brooklyn, NY, Kevin McAfee and his wife, Angie McAfee of Matamoras, PA, her grandson Marley McAfee, her older brother Thomas Redeker and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Lucille Redeker, her brother James Redeker and her sisters Nancy Semmel and Mary Lou Bander. Meg’s family especially wish to acknowledge the immeasurable kindness of Pete and Marilyn Sigreto, Ed and Doretta Reiss, James and Luverne Rohner, Christian and Elizabeth Semmel as well as Kim and Lori Pierce and Mark and Laurie Mollo, her lifetime best friends. They all provided great comfort. The family also wishes to thank the professionalism and care of Residential Hospice and the doctors and nurses of Garnet Hospital, especially Dr. Dinsmore of Crystal Run Oncology. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 11:00am – 12:00Noon. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 12 Noon at the funeral home. A burial will follow the service on Saturday in the Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to your favored animal charity. Meg tried to live her life with the simple philosophy found in the words of poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” Not only was there incredible strength within her, but she engendered it in so many that she met.
