Frances Marie Deal, 90, of Wheaton, MN passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton with Fr. John Paul Knopik and Fr. Stan Wieser Celebrants.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.

Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren: Lorilee Bergin, Kari Smith, Shannon Miller, Michael Miller, Katherine Norby, Stevie Ihry, Peyton Deal, and Jackson Deal. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frances’ dear friends and family.

Frances was born January 23, 1932 in Tintah Township to Axel and Mae (Swedlund) Carlson.  She attended country school through eighth grade and Wheaton High School, graduating in 1950.  Frances married her high school sweetheart, Jerry M. Deal on April 27, 1952 in Wheaton.  They spent more than 65 years together and made their home, raised their family, and farmed in rural Wheaton.

Frances was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.  She was an active member of her church and community.  She was fiercely independent and insisted on living on her farm until her health forced her to accept change.

Frances is survived by her daughters:  Joni (David) Norby of Nipoma, CA; Jacqueline (Steven) Hennen of Lake Havasu City, AZ; her son Philip (Colleen) Deal of Wheaton, MN; her grandchildren: Lorilee Bergin of Moorhead, MN; Kari (Vince) Smith of Battle Lake, MN; Shannon (Erica) Miller of Bemidji, MN; Michael (Kelsie) Miller of Roseville, MN; Katherine Norby of Visalia, CA; Stevie (Tyler) Ihry of Plymouth, MN; Peyton Deal of Amherst, MA; Jackson Deal of Minneapolis, MN; her great-grandchildren: Samara Bergin, Skyla Bergin, Eva Miller, Paxton Miller, Burke Miller, Cecelia Miller, Winnie Miller, Tobias Miller, Kylian Ihry, and Declan Ihry; her sister Mavis Lichtsinn of Wheaton, MN.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Axel and Mae (Swedlund) Carlson, her husband Jerry M. Deal; her daughter Julie Miller; her grandsons: Ian Hennen and Benjamin Norby; her brother Vernon Carlson; her sisters: Elsie Leininger and Darlene Johnson.

All memorials will be donated to the Wheaton Hospital Ambulance Service.
