<p>Louis Hamilton Barnett (89 years old) of Fleming, Colorado passed away March 17, 2022, at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, Colorado.</p> <p>Louis was born July 12th, 1932, to Wayne and Phyllis Barnett in Brownell, Kansas. He was the 2nd child of 5 children. His siblings were Lawrence, Mary, John and Barb.</p> <p>&nbsp;The family enjoyed living the country life. When Lou and his brother Lawrence were young, they hid a sack of gold coins in the ground at the old homestead. He always wanted to go back to see if he could find them, but he never got the chance. As a child he had his share of trials and tribulations. Due to having Polio and falling off a horse and breaking his hip, he spent much of his time in the Children&rsquo;s Hospital.</p> <p>The family moved from Brownell, Kansas to Arapahoe, Colorado in 1946 and later moved to Laird Colorado where he graduated high school in 1951. The summer after graduation he married Delores Fox and they were married for 16 years. From that marriage they had four children, Douglas, Donald, David and Debra. Lou and Dee moved from Wray to Fort Morgan in 1955 where he worked for a Texaco Station then later owned and operated Lou&rsquo;s Texaco. In approximately 1963, he purchased his first truck and continued to drive truck and broker grain until his retirement.</p> <p>In 1971 he married Jane Steele (aka Grandma Jane). They lived in Sterling at the time then bought a lot and set up home in Fleming, Colorado. Years later they moved to Windsor for a few years to be closer to Jane&rsquo;s doctors. After Jane passed May 16, 1993, Lou decided to move back to Fleming where he lived until his passing.</p> <p>Lou loved semi-trucks, country music and his chocolate milk. &nbsp;He enjoyed sharing a good story and offering his advice to all who would listen.</p> <p>Lou is survived by his dear friend Patsy Shields of Haxtun, his brother Jon Barnett (Virginia Barnett) of Augusta Kansas, 4 children Doug Barnett (Stella Carlson) of Fort Morgan, Don Barnett (Antonette Barnett) of Columbus NE, Dave Barnett (Barb Barnett) of Greeley CO and Deb Senseney (Bill Senseney) of Orchard, CO, 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren Gene, Randy, Gary, Marge, Hal, Jim and their families which include 20 step grandchildren, 39 step great grand children and 12 step great-great grandchildren.</p> <p>He is proceeded in death by his parents Phyllis and Wayne Barnett, his wife Jane, brother Lawrence, and sisters Mary Cox &amp; Barbara Jacobs, stepson Les Steele and 4 step grandchildren.</p> <p>Funeral Services will be March 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fleming United Methodist Church, 301 N. Custer Ave. Fleming. Grave side services and lunch following.</p> <p>In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fleming Fire Department and/or Fleming United Methodist Church.</p>

Louis Hamilton Barnett (89 years old) of Fleming, Colorado passed away March 17, 2022, at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
