<p>Gail Ann Hasenmiller, 58, of DeWitt, Iowa, died on Friday, March 18, 2022, at home.</p> <p>Gail was born to Glenn and Adel (Theis) Hedrick February 13, 1964, in Dubuque, Iowa and lived her entire life in the DeWitt community. In 1984, she married her high school sweetheart, love of her life and very best friend Paul.&nbsp;They were blessed with 4 great kids, Justin (Jennifer) Hasenmiller, Jessica (Jon) Wood, Elizabeth Hasenmiller (Drew Heckart) and Kyle (Katelyn) Hasenmiller, and 4 beautiful granddaughters, Evie, Isabell, Hollis, and Elise, plus a baby girl on the way! Her kids and grandkids meant the world to her, and family time was cherished. Gail’s hobbies included traveling, playing the piano, gambling, reading, painting, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. She was an animal lover and always had an ornery cat around to spoil. Gail had been a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt, where she was a member of the school board, and served as a parish nurse and usher. She also taught a water aerobics class at the DeWitt Fitness Center. Gail worked as a registered nurse for over 35 years, retiring in 2020. She worked in several area hospitals and as a case manager for John Deere Health Care (later United Health). She did many interesting things during her career including traveling the US for various projects and meeting and caring for some amazing people.</p> <p>When she received her stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2016, she knew she wanted to spend all her time living and not trying to chase a cure that wasn't available. She created a bucket list and began to check off that list. She was able to skydive, zipline, hot air balloon, whale watch, take a seaplane, take an airboat ride, visit numerous national and state parks, visit almost all 50 states, and go to Canada, Mexico, Aruba and Jamaica.</p> <p>Those left to honor her memory are her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, a brother Greg (April) Hedrick,&nbsp;brothers and sisters-in-law, Lori (Kevin) Green, LuAnn (Mike) Robbins, and Scott Hasenmiller, and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Those gone before her include her grandparents, her mother and father-in-law, Merwyn and Rhea Hasenmiller and nephew Daniel Hedrick.</p> <p>She asked to give special thanks to her oncology group at Iowa Cancer Specialists, and to so many friends that kept her going during the tough times with listening ears, cards, flowers, food and love, and also to her family who had her back and understood and respected her wishes these last few years.</p> <p>In honor of her love of animals, kids, and health &amp; wellness,&nbsp;please share any memorials with the Clinton County Humane Society or the UIHC Children’s Hospital NICU or the Ghana Well Project to provide clean water in Africa.</p> <p>Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, in the church, the Rev. Fr. Francis Odoom officiating.
