Beloved daughter of Cua Guan Sen and Lim Son (aka Juanita Tan Cua). Milagros “Lucing” Tan Cua peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.


Milagros was born on November 3, 1929, in La Paz, Leyte, Philippines as the third of ten children. An avid reader, she could read 4-5 novels a day. She was also a wide reader - from current events to sports to politics to history. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in college and majored in Accounting at Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines. She was an accomplished gourmet cook in Chinese cuisine and was a great storyteller to not only her nieces and nephews but also her siblings. On hot nights, her sisters and brothers sit out on the balcony to enjoy the breeze, watch for meteors and hear Milagros share her renditions of the Grimms’ Fairy Tales. Caring and compassionate, Milagros would volunteer her services where help was needed. She had an ailing brother and would spend the evenings rubbing his back and telling him stories until he fell asleep. We all miss her smile and her animated storytelling especially when the subject was about the British Royalty history. She was a wonderful, beloved sister, aunt, grand aunt and great grand aunt to many.


Milagros did office work for a hardware company while in the Philippines. In the mid-80s, she came to America. She lived in California and New Jersey prior to settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She enjoyed playing mahjong, caring for her orchids, watching Asian soap opera and cooking. She was a devout Catholic and attended St Clements Catholic Church. We will miss her sweet smile and hearty laughter.


Milagros is survived by her 4 sisters - Felisa, Lilia, Paulita, and Carmen.


A memorial service is being held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charitable institution.
