Gailia "Gail" J. Cowdery, 61 of Westerville, Ohio passed away on Aug 4, 2016 after a long illness. She was born in Parkersburg, WV on May 26, 1955 the daughter of the late Bernice Blackburn Cowdery and Kenneth Cowdery. Gail grew up in Belpre and was a 1973 graduate of Belpre High School. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital Radiologic Technology program in 1975. Gail worked as an X-ray technician and medial assistant throughout her life. Gail enjoyed watching Family Feud and crime dramas. She was a fan of Reds baseball, Ohio State football and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Gail was an avid reader; she especially loved Stephen King books. She liked playing board games and cards and working puzzles. She would sing along to Willie Nelson, Bob Seeger, and the Eagles. Most of all she loved being a mother and a granny to her grandchildren. Gail is survived by her daughter Ansley Cowdery Loken (Chris.) Grandchildren Kiernan Kinney, Andrew Loken, and Isabella Loken. Father Kenneth Cowdery (Emma) of Vienna. Sisters Cheryl Cowdery of Liberty, SC, Kimberly Cowdery of Belpre, and Rhonda Cowdery (Robin Walters) of Columbus. Nephew Brett Cowdery (Erica Belcher) and great niece Daisy Cowdery of Belpre. Step-sister Nora Burris and step-brother Sam Bell of Daytona Beach. In addition to her mother, Gail was preceded in death by grandparents Garnet and Milford Griffin, Dutch Cowdery, and Gladys and Melvin Blackburn. A memorial service will be held Sunday 2:00 pm at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre with Pastor Rob Clegg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
