Sally J. Ware Obituary

Sally J. Ware, 97, of Charleston, W.Va., formerly of Parkersburg, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016, in Charleston, W.Va. She was born in Parkersburg to the late Richard Lawrence and Rita Louise Taylor Woodyard. Sally was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Charleston, W.Va. She served in several garden clubs. Sally loved to grow her vegetables in her garden, and she was particularly fond of her tomatoes. She enjoyed sharing her vegetables with her neighbors. Weather permitting she was always working in her flowers. Her neighbors always enjoyed watching her tend to her flowers, which was a beautiful showcase of color in the neighborhood. Sally was an accomplished flower arranger and won many blue ribbons for her talent. Sally was also a detailed artist and she enjoyed painting birds and flowers. She traveled extensively with her late husband and literally saw the world. She always enjoyed reading a good book and watching Fox News. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Kirk Ware; her siblings, Richard Lawrence Woodyard II and Mary Louise Pflug. She is survived by her son, Eugene Kirk Ware II of Charleston, W.Va.; daughter, Sally Kay Lucas and son-in-law, Kenneth R. Lucas, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Judith Ann Leep of Parkersburg; brother, Gordon Lee Woodyard of Parkersburg; granddaughter, Lee Anne Ford of Tuscaloosa, Ala; and great-grandson, Alexander Cawood Ford of Tuscaloosa, Ala. The family deeply appreciates the many years of fine care and guidance provided by Dr. William Harris and his staff. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Cindy Eakles officiating. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. There will be a visitation in Charleston, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2016, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home., 1118 Virginia St. East, Charleston, W.Va. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to a favorite charity. You may send condolences to the family at www.barlowbonsall.com or www.leavittfuneralhome.com
