MAMOU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Wayne Matthew Fontenot at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, LA.  Father Billy Massie will be celebrant of the mass.  Burial will take place in New. St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Wayne Matthew Fontenot, 70, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, in Opelousas, LA. He was born on October 20, 1951, in Mamou, LA to Matthew Enos Fontenot and Hilda Ortego Fontenot.

Wayne was a real Southern Gentlemen. He was kind, polite, and cared for others. With his vast knowledge of chemistry, he made Wine and Scotch that was second to none. He enjoyed traveling throughout the south, He was a fun-loving Uncle and always full of life. He was a caring person who will be missed by many.

Wayne is survived by his niece, Karla Brooks of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nephew, Karl Voss and wife, Amanda of Sulphur; great-nieces, Briana Trahan of Iota and Dr. Elise Venable of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and great-nephews, Joshua Roche of Lake Charles and John Henry of Sulphur.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Enos Fontenot and Hilda Ortego Fontenot; and his sister, Lenora Voss; and his loving dog, Leego
