Souchuns, 100, departed this life on March 13, 2022 at the Masonic Home and Hospital in Wallingford, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles J. Souchuns.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Claire was born in Waterbury, CT on January 21, 1922 to the late Thomas and Emma (Hebert) Hirbour. She moved to the Gaylord Farm Sanatorium with her family in her early years and simply never left Wallingford.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">She graduated from Lyman Hall High School, Class of 1939 and went on to attend the Pequot Business School. She was employed by New Departure, Barker&#39;s Department Store, Holy Trinity School and AA Bus Company over her working years. However, her most demanding and rewarding job was raising her children of whom she was most proud.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Claire was pre-deceased by her sister Laurette, and brother Gerard. She is survived by her older sister Camille Bonocchi. Yes, an older sister. Claire is also survived by her five children, Thomas (Joann), John (Laurie), Peter (Pam), Chris (Elaine) and Mary (Tommy). Her grandchildren, Amy, Beth, Kati, Becky, Karen, Charles, Alexandra, Kari, Valerie and Emma. As well as her great-grandchildren, Henry, Daniel, Joe, Gus, Leo, and Ruby.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Claire thoroughly enjoyed the connections she made with her friends through her many years. She was always up for a joke and remained ever ready to offer some good-humored sarcasm to get a smile.</span></span></em></p> <p><em><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 18, 2021 at 10 AM at Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 N. Colony Road, Wallingford. The family will receive visitors prior to Mass from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St. Wallingford. Interment will immediately follow Mass in St. Johns Cemetery. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford, CT has been entrusted with the arrangements. Claire H. Souchuns, 100, departed this life on March 13, 2022 at the Masonic Home and Hospital in Wallingford, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles J. Souchuns.
