Kenneth R. Vaughan Sr. Obituary

Kenneth R. Vaughan, Sr. was born April 6, 1939 and died March 12, 2022 at the age of 82.

Saying goodbye to your father is a difficult thing to do, especially so for a father who is so dearly loved.

He filled our lives with so much joy, and he was so much fun to be around.  Dad was the kind of fellow that was always interested in what his kids were up to, and at all times expressed his love to us.

He was born in Marlboro, Ohio and lived his entire life in the area.  He graduated from Marlboro High School in 1957 and enjoyed this beautiful area until last year when his incapacity required that he be cared for elsewhere.

One of dad’s favorite stories was the time when he was a young boy and won the race at the county fair with his horse, Tippy.  Even though his memories were slipping away, he would light up and grin at its retelling, as though he was reliving the thrill of winning that race all over again.  It is comforting to think of him that way, young, free and riding his horse, winning that race with a smile on his face.

When we were little kids, dad really enjoyed taking us to the Canfield Fair.  We would spend all day with him looking at every animal, eating all the delicious fair food, and the highlight our day was a visit to the Great Pumpkin.  Remembering how he would save our visit to the Great Pumpkin as the very last thing we kids saw at the fair before we left, is one of the best memories.  Dad really made seeing that pumpkin a “big deal” and we talked about it for days afterward.

He taught us how to ride our fat little ponies and watched us race up and down the field when we were kids and he also got us a very ornery goat to play with, which he regretted.   Dad loved us kids very much and wanted us to enjoy everything possible that he could provide.

As we grew, he was the kind of father that was proud of the success and achievements of his children.  He was a loving and devoted father, and he made certain to express his love and care for us throughout his life.  If you were to ask dad what his greatest achievement was, he would have said his children.

There are so many happy memories of him and his presence will be greatly missed.

Please join us in honoring our father and we welcome you to share with us your happy memories of him as we gather at the Arnold Funeral Home 504 W Maple Street, Hartville, Ohio.  Visiting hours are scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM with service to follow.  Final resting place is Marlboro Cemetery.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Aaron Vaughan and his wife Flerida; his daughter Adrienne Harris and her husband Richard; his son, Kenneth Vaughan, Jr. and his wife Susan; his brother Kay Vaughan and his wife Donna; his ex-spouse and life-long friend, Louise Vaughan; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mable Vaughan; and his sister Barbara Clunen and her husband Tom.
