TOGETHER AGAIN
On March 12, 2022, God opened Heaven’s gates and invited my mom to join Him. Barbara Kay Noland nee Gheen passed away from complications of Lewy Body Dementia at the age of 78. She is once again herself and reunited with my Dad. Barbara was born on February 23, 1944 to parents, Delmar Lee Gheen and Lauramae Gheen in Canton, Ohio. She spent many a summer fishing at Rice Lake in Canada and loved the kitchen cupboard and doll crib that her Grandpa Zantene made for her that is still in the family. She met my Dad at a dance at Myers Lake when she was just 16. They got engaged on Christmas of 1961 and were married in September of 1963. Mom was a kind, loving soul that loved her family and many friends fiercely. Nothing brought her more joy than being with those she loved. While we are left to mourn her passing and carry her in our hearts until we meet again, we are so blessed and grateful for being raised by two selfless and beautiful people who taught us how to live by example and took every opportunity to show us love and support without boundaries. Mom loved to bowl at the College Bowl and play cards with her card club comprised of her high school girlfriends in her younger years. She loved to laugh, enjoyed a good party, a trip to Vegas with my dad, or an impromptu trip to Mountaineer or Wheeling Downs and spending time with her loved ones, especially her beloved granddaughters. Her Spanish Rice recipe that was passed down from her mom will be enjoyed by her granddaughters and their families for many years to come. Kaylee and Lindsey will never forget the amazing water park that Grammy and Papa would set up for them in the backyard in the summers! Mom spent yesterday with the things she loves most- Cherry Coke, jellybeans, and her kids.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Noland, her parents, Delmar Lee and Lauramae Gheen, her brothers, Delmar Lee Gheen, Jr. and Jon R. Gheen, her mother in law, Virgie Clark, her brother in law, Jerry Rogers, and dear friends, Carol Mucci and Bob Oster. She is survived by her loving children, Steve (Dana) Noland, and Wendy (Jeff) Carroll. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughters, Kourtney Ickes (Andrea O’Dea), Lindsey Noland, and Kaylee Carroll. She is survived by sisters in law, Roberta Rogers, Barbara Gheen, and Sharon Gheen, cousins Rodney Everhart, Phyllis (Butch) Barnhart, Cheryl (Ed) Carrick, and Peter Everhart as well as dear friends, Marlene Oster and family and Tana Gerwin. Many thanks to the staff at The Inn at Whitewood Village for the TLC they gave our mom, most especially Kris, Cindy, and Char. You were so special to Mom and we are forever grateful for the “extra” you gave. Per Barb's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside burial will be held.
