Lucille Bains-Lee Obituary

Lucille Bains-Lee was born on July 4, 1925 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to Leana (Biggie) and Ed Bains. Lucille attended school in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. Lucille migrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1943 and later to Chicago, Illinois. After several years in Chicago, she decided to move to Gary, Indiana where she spent most of her adult life. In 2019, as her health began to change, Lucille moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to be near her children, where she remained until her heavenly transition. Lucille spent her working years in various capacities. She worked as a laundry attendant, at beauty shops, as a home health aide and in her later years as she sat and visited with friends and family members. They were looking for good care and companionship and Lucille was the one that was able to put a smile on their faces. Mother Lee was the true definition of Matriarch. Lucille was the mother of Mothers. She loved her children and dedicated her life to making sure they had what they needed. She loved many and her door was always open to the neighborhood family. She was known a Mrs. Lee to many, but Mother to all. She was loved by many and she loved them back. She loved them with the love of God, because she knew that God loved her. Lucille was proceeded in death by her parents, her oldest son Robert Lee Johnson, two brothers; Willie and Leroy, sister; Drucilla, granddaughter; Pamela Gatewood, son-in-law E.L. and dear friend Berthetta Morgan. She is survived by daughters; Ella Mae Gatewood (Memphis, Tenn.) Odessa (Vernon) Lee, Sheryl (Robin) Gray, sons; Rayfield (Karen) Lee and Ferdell Lee, all of Minneapolis, Mn.
