Evelyn Joyce Weehunt, 85, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at her home with her son and daughter by her side.
She was born April 6, 1936, in Silva, Missouri, the daughter of the late John D. Westmoreland and Mattie (Sebastian) Westmoreland. Evelyn grew up on the family farm working the fields with her father. Evelyn was a graduate of Greenville High School.
She was united in marriage on August 27, 1955, in Silva, Missouri to Claude Junior Weehunt, together they had 5 children.
A loving homemaker to her family. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, a 50 plus year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a long-time member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Evelyn and Claude had a house in the Ozarks where they enjoyed family, fishing, barbeques, fish fries, card games. Evelyn and Claude also enjoyed traveling. Ever summer she grew flowers, fruits, and vegetables and helped many others to grow gardens too.
God and family were important in her life. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Evelyn leaves behind many friends and family to mourn her passing.
Survivors include her five children, Dennis Weehunt, Russellville; Joyce Biggs, Ivy Bend; Sherri Brooks, Kansas City; Linda Payne, Irving, TX; Lori (Jake) Sanders, Independence; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, John “Eldon” (Wanda Sue) Westmoreland, Wentzville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. the Rev. Alan Earls officiating.
Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
