Charles Arthur Thompson, age 83, of Mount Vernon, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Country Club Retirement Campus.

He was born on October 2, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio and was the son of the late George Norman and Neva (Bevis) Thompson.

Charles was a United States Army Ohio National Guard Veteran.  He was a workaholic and enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, cooking and baking.

He is survived by two daughters, Annett (Mark) Allen, Susan (Allen) Lester; a son, David (Lynn) Thompson; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; brother, John “JD” Thompson.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Thompson; son, Lawrence Allen Thompson and a brother, Norman Thompson.

Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 2022 from 5- 7 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel.  Graveside services will be on Tuesday – 11 AM in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
