Robert "Bob" Pesch Pekin, Illinois Obituary

Robert "Bob" Pesch

Robert “Bob” Pesch passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on March 4th, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. As he did throughout his entire life, Bob showed courage in facing all of life’s challenges with humor, a warm smile, and the constant belief that God was faithful and would provide him strength for the journey. Bob was born on August 08, 1940 in Peoria, IL to Paul C. and Frieda S. Pesch. They preceded him in death. Bob is survived by the love of his life, Elaine, whom he married on May 7th, 1966 at 1st Baptist Church in Creve Coeur, IL. In marriage, Bob lived out Ephesians 5:25, which reads, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself up for her.” Bob would do anything for Elaine and truly enjoyed every minute spent with her. She was his absolute best friend and constant support. No matter what the experience was – traveling to Arizona for the winter, visiting family members in Nebraska, bicycling on trails, trying out new restaurants, listening to music in from of the fireplace, or just working on projects together at home – Bob enjoyed it all because he was talking, laughing, and spending time with Elaine. Together, Bob and Elaine settled in Morton to raise a family. Surviving is their son, Michael R. Pesch of Franklin Park, IL, their daughter, Deanne M. (Pesch) Strube of Fishers, IN, along with two grandchildren Olivia and Owen Strube. In addition to their family, Bob and Elaine loved spending time with their other “adopted” families that they met over the years. Michael and Ruth Crist and their children Robert Crist and Danielle Crist-Balek. Scott and Leah Sanda and their sons Nathan and Connor. Andy and Carrie Brooks and their children Timothy, Nathan, Abigail, and Isabella. They cherished their time visiting, watching races, going to dinner, listening to live music, and attending life’s moments with these special extended family members. Bob served in the United States Army from September 17th, 1963 until September 16, 1965. During his time in the service, he was stationed on the Hawk Missile Site in Korea along the DMZ from 1964-1965. Bob was very proud to have provided service to the country that he loved. During his work life, Bob was an accomplished IBEW journeymen electrician from 1973 until he retired in 2014. As part of his career, he worked in management in the electrical department for Commonwealth Edison at the Pekin Powerton generating plant from 1984-2000. After that, he worked on a variety of electrical projects from businesses, to hospitals to schools. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking all of his life. In recent years, he enjoyed bicycling in the outdoors and especially enjoyed riding his new bike that Leah Sanda had designed and made for him. Bob also enjoyed hobbies that brought the outdoors inside through wood working. Bob was an incredibly talented woodworker and utilized his skills in the remodeling of homes and in the creation of beautiful, custom furniture. Many of Bob’s woodworking creations also incorporated his other hobby of stained glass. In addition to his hobbies, Bob achieved the level of 32 degree Master Mason with the Scottish Rite. Cremation has been accorded and a private Celebration of Life service will be scheduled for a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Scottish Rite Children Dyslexia Centers Springfield,Illinois https://www.childrensdyslexiacenters.org/donate/, Peoria Rescue Ministries https://www.peoriarescue.org/index.php/ways-to-help-floorboard/donate-now-floorboard, Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreas Cancer https://events.lustgarten.org/give/192132/#!/donation/checkout,l, or a charity of your choice.
