Mary Louise Phillips, a resident of the Life Care Center of Leominster, MA, formerly of Fitchburg, MA, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at the Life Care Center of Leominster at the age of 95 years.
Mary was born on March 12, 1926, a daughter to naturalized Lithuanian immigrant parents, who settled in Fitchburg. She graduated from St. Bernard High School with the class of 1943. After high school, she worked for many years at Worcester North Savings Institution in Fitchburg.
Mary was predeceased by her older sister, Ann (Phillips) Seliga, as well as her four older brothers, Joseph, Francis, John and Daniel.
Mary was a very kind and generous lady who was remembered by all who met her as friendly and caring and she was always willing to help others. Her close friends remembered her for being a good cook – she loved good food – and she was a gracious host and frequent party-giver. In her later life, as her health declined, she read extensively and took great solace in attending daily Mass on television with Boston’s CatholicTV cable station.
She will be sadly missed by her two nieces, Sister Mary Ann Seliga, PBVM of Leominster, and Jocelyn Phillips and family of Seattle, WA; her nephew, Dennis Phillips and his family of Niceville, FL; and Dennis’ son, Jeffrey Phillips and his family of Tallahassee, FL.
Mary’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 10:00am at St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg, MA. Please go directly to church.
