Robert "Bob" Ross Frager Obituary

Robert (Bob) Ross Frager was born July 31, 1939, and departed this life to be with His Lord and Savior on February 6, 2022.

Bob was born in Washington, Kansas, to Ross and Wilma Frager. His family moved to Denver when he was a young boy. Early on, Bob found his love of nature and the great outdoors. As a kid, he got to help his parents and his brother build a family cabin in Park County, CO. Later he would work as a camp counselor at Camp IdRaHaJe near their family cabin. Bob graduated from Sheridan High School, where he was a wrestler and saxophone player.  At Sheridan, Bob also met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Barbara Anne (Bobbie) Wilson.  As a teenager, he was very active in the youth programs at his church and hoped to be a youth minister one day. He also considered being a forest ranger because of his love of nature. After Bob’s high school graduation in 1958, he moved to Chicago to attend Moody Bible College. Bob and Bobbie were married September 2, 1960. They stayed in Chicago for several years, until Bob’s love of Colorado drew them back to Denver.  Bob and Bobbie had three children: Steve, Vicki, and Scott. Bob was eager to introduce his children to all that the Colorado life has to offer. Family vacations were centered on camping, which holds dear memories for his kids. Maximizing his time outside, Bob volunteered as a soccer coach and also as a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts, which he participated in with both Steve and Scott. Toward the end of Scott’s scouting years, he and his dad were honored together by their troop as Scout/Scoutmaster of the Year. Whether Bob was leading backpacking expeditions or 50-mile canoe trips, teaching outdoor cooking or guiding hunters, he loved helping other people appreciate the outdoors as much as he did.

While being outside was Bob’s great love, he also had many indoor interests. He and Bobbie were very involved in their church, and they both sang in the choir. He was also a Brigade leader for the church youth. At home, Bob turned his garage into an impressive workshop for woodworking and other building projects, and he enjoyed building model planes and railroads. He was especially fond of the latter and modified his basement to accommodate his elaborate trainsets. A lifelong hobby enthusiast, he loved gardening and later took up painting and geocaching.

Bob spent his career working in IT. As with most of what he did in life, Bob was self-taught in computers. He was with Montgomery Wards for many years, and later worked for a student loan processing company before retiring. Never one to just sit around, Bob worked at King Soopers for a number of years after retiring while continuing to pursue his many hobbies.

After losing his wife Bobbie in 2006, Bob married Delevita (Vita) Rego in 2007. They enjoyed traveling and made several international trips, including to her native country of Brazil. But Bob was always glad to get back to his beloved Colorado and the things he loved doing there.

Bob’s children appreciated his infectious enthusiasm for the outdoors, his cleverness, and his handiness. They admired his lifelong passion to try new things and explore new interests. Bob was a doer. If he didn’t know how to do something, he figured it out. He enjoyed using his skills as a craftsman to make things for other people, be it furniture or toys and puzzles for his grandchildren. He pursued his passions until the end of his life and demonstrated to his family what it looks like to end well.

Bob is survived by his wife Vita, her three children, and his three children: Steve Frager (Awanda) of Aurora, CO, Vicki Whitten of Milwaukie, OR, and Scott Frager (Dawn) of Colorado Springs. He also leaves behind a brother, Rick Frager (Terri), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He will be missed.
