Anthony Daniel Ruiz Obituary

Anthony Daniel Ruiz
Oct. 8, 1997 - March 6, 2022
FORT WORTH, Texas – Anthony Daniel Ruiz was born in Fort Worth in 1997. He passed March 6, 2022. He is survived by his mother, Maria Sanchez, his father, Miguel Ruiz Sr. (both Fort Worth natives), his stepfather, Arturo Alvarado, and his stepmother, Trish Ruiz, and three brothers, Xavier Alvarado, Alexander Ruiz, and Miguel Ruiz Jr. Anthony grew up in Fort Worth, having graduated from William James Middle School and Arlington Heights High School. His upbringing was typical of an All-American child. He and his older brother Miguel used to spend hours every summer playing the newest gaming system on the market; he enjoyed WWF events, museums, and team-sporting events, and was a varsity wrestling athlete. He regularly attended religious services at St. Patrick Cathedral with his grandmother Carmen Ruiz, while always being taught the value of faith by his grandmother Elizabeth Ann Sanchez (who preceded him in death). Anthony was surrounded by loving paternal and maternal families who both gathered regularly for every birthday and holiday. On Anthony’s 8th birthday he was gifted a performance microphone that he connected to his boombox to sing the hooks to his favorite songs. It was then when his artistic prowess began to bloom. Through his school-aged years, Anthony was recognized several times as a regionally-ranked cello player and was a cello player in the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra. He continued to experiment with music as he and his friends performed in indie-rock shows at venues across north Texas. Anthony’s artistic tendencies were evident throughout his young adult life. He often played his guitar, bass, and electronic-keyed instruments in jam sessions either with friends or in personal performances for his family members. He worked for Fort Worth Magazine as a contributing writer of local art and culture and worked in a few of his local-favorite Asian-cuisine kitchens perfecting his favorite dishes. He even spent his leisure time experimenting with fresh ingredients and would often visit his mother, Maria, to cook special meals for her. And during one of these visits Anthony delivered one of his newest creations, an ink-on-canvas painting bearing a realistic portrayal of a rooster (his grandmother Elizabeth’s favorite animal) grazing in a flowery meadow. That gesture embodies Anthony’s truest self, a thoughtful creative with a kind heart… words affirmed by his mother and those closest to him. – You are invited to pay final respects at Anthony’s visitation which will be held on Tuesday, March 15, from 12:00 pm through 8:00 pm at Amalla Funeral Home at 5210 McCart Ave. Fort Worth, Texas 76115. And you are invited to participate in the rosary service from 6:00 pm through 7:00 pm on the same day and at the same location. – His funeral service will begin with a Mass on Wednesday, March 16, at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Cathedral at 1206 Throckmorton St. Fort Worth, Texas, 76102. At the conclusion of Mass at roughly 11:00 am, the funeral procession will then move to Greenwood Funeral Home at 3100 White Settlement Rd. Fort Worth, Texas, 76107 where Anthony Daniel Ruiz will be laid to rest. – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. - Psalm 23
