Byron Caldwell Wolfe, 61, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2016, after a long illness. He was born and educated in Oregon City, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jewell Wolfe, and his grandmother, Gaga. After moving to Las Vegas, Byron began his career in hospitality by working for Caesars Palace, before relocating to Memphis in 1982. With an outgoing personality that put everyone at ease, Wink Martindale's Restaurant, in Overton Square's heyday, was one of the several businesses Byron worked for in the hospitality industry. As he rose in responsibility, within the industry, Byron enjoyed most his position of National Sales Manager and Special Events Manager for the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau. Byron was a jokester, and known for his quick wit, and his larger than life personality. Even in his illness, he brought joy to others through his witty responses and repartee. He will be missed by all who knew him. Byron is survived by his best friend and life partner, Chris Hudson, cousins Kent Ziegler (Susan) & Ron Ziegler, Karen, John, Jason, Spencer & Kayla Meyers, Tim Gilbertson (Alyson), and his amazing cat and buddy, Zorro. A special note of thanks goes to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Francis Hospital Bartlett for their excellent and considerate care of Byron. Heartfelt thanks also goes to Crossroads Hospice for their compassion and care at the end. Memorials may be made to Memphis Union Mission, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
