Helen Mack, 71, of Ridgeland passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her residence. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.


Helen Gregory was born on April 6, 1950 to Walter Gregory and Viola Gregory in Jasper County, SC; Low Bottom, Chelsea Plantation. 
Raised by her mother, Viola Gregory in New York City, along with her sisters, Mary and Lydia. In addition to her brother Walter Jr. Joining Paradise Baptist Church at an early age, she was a fixture at the church along with her mother and younger sister Lydia. She attended PS 123 and Julia Richman High School in New York. 
As an adult, she joined the usher board at Paradise Baptist Church in 1999 - 2000. She worked effortlessly for Roosevelt Hospital for Oncology retiring in 2007. Upon returning to South Carolina after retirement, Helen and her husband Carl first joined Second Euhaw Missionary Church. She served as church secretary. Soon after, they joined Second Euhaw Church, Grahamville. Helen would serve as an usher. She loved gardening, sewing, listening to music, creating picture collages, cruises, and destination trips. Myrtle Beach was one of her favorite places to vacation at. In addition to surprising her family in NYC for an unannounced weekend trip.  
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: Her devoted and loving husband Carl Mack, four sons: Shawn and Darris James, Malcolm Mack and Carl Mack Jr. One sister, Lydia Gregory. Three daughters, Isata Kanu, Margarita, and Naeemah James. Three nephews, Lamont James, Randall & Rhys Gregory.  Three nieces, Tiffany White, Ebony James, and Claudia Gregory.  Four grandchildren, Shaye, Emerie, Noah, and Isatu-Mali. Dearest Family from NYC and Pennsylvania: Carrie, Joyce, Sharlene, Jarmaine, Corey and Gayle Grant, Jazmin and Darnell Wright, Charles Buster Gregory. And lastly, her closest and special friends, Linda Williams, Oliva Richardson, Stacy Lisbon, Brenda, and Duane Pinder. Cousins in South Carolina & Georgia:1st Cousins Johnease and Willie “Toby” Taylor, Easter White, Shirley Gardner, Edith White, Albert Heyward. Selina, Gerald, Jimmy Heyward, Harry Heyward, Gussie Gregory, and the entire White Family from Cherry Hill. In addition to a host of relatives and friends from NYC, South Carolina, and California.
