James Stuart Price was born January 31, 1937, to the union of the late Mother Ethel (Corbin) and Bishop Cornelius Price, one of five siblings.
He attended Lincoln Heights Elementary School and graduated from Central High School in 1955. He received an Associate degree from Southern Ohio College, then pursed a bachelor’s degree at Wilmington College. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Christ Temple Bible College.
He was baptized in Jesus name in 1963 at COGMPGT, Lockland, OH, now Burress Temple Apostolic COGMPGT. He was called to the ministry in 1972 while attending the Church of God, Leominster, Massachusetts. He pastored the service men’s church in Misawa, Japan for two years.
Sargent James S. Price retired from the US Army Security Agency after serving twenty years (20) at the following duty stations, Ft. Devens, Massachusetts, Clark Air Base Philippines; Seoul South Korea, Phu Bai, Vietnam; Chitose Army Base, Chitose, Japan; Ft. Knox, Kentucky; Two Rock Ranch Station, Bad Aibling, Germany, and Misawa Aire Base, Japan. He received the following awards, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (1ST-6TH Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device, Meritorious Unit Citation.
James S. Price returned to Cincinnati in 1976 and served as assistant pastor at the Church of God MPGT, Vine Street for eleven years. He was ordained Elder in the COGMPGT. He was given the pastorate at the COGMPGT, Richmond, Kentucky, where he served for eleven years. He was ordained Bishop in the COGMPGT in 1998 and became the pastor at his birth church, Burress Temple COGMPGT in 2000. He served as a member of the Executive Board of the COGMPGT and became Chairman of the Board in 2006. Later he became the Assistant Overseer of the COGMPGT. Bishop was blessed to be the pastor in Richmond, Kentucky and Lockland, Ohio when the Lord allowed new facilities to be built, to God be the Glory.
Bishop Price was preceded in death by his father, Bishop Cornelius Price; mother, Mother Ethel L. Price; brothers; Deacon Albert (Sonny) Price, Brother Ronald Price; sister Mother Lillian Windom; first wife, Sister Jean Esther Allen Price and his oldest son James (Ann) S. Price, Jr.
Bishop Price leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, whom he cherished dearly, Pastor Julie Ann Taylor Price; his sister, Lula Cooper, Prescott, Arizona; children: Gwendolyn (Robert) Sanders, Glendale Arizona; Alan Price, Frederick (Erica) Price, Michele (Demetrius) Henry, all of Cincinnati, OH; Brandon (Gina) Price, Vancouver, BC; Amanda Thomas, Lexington, KY; and Jennifer Price, Cincinnati, OH. He leaves 29 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends. He also leaves to remember him his loving Burress Temple church and National COGMPGT family.
