George Louis MacNeil, 71, of Menominee, Mich. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. He was born April 9, 1950 in Boston, MA. to the late Robert and Honor (Purnell) MacNeil. George served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. and was a DAV. He met the love of his life, Terri (Clark) MacNeil, and they were married in Belton, Texas. Shortly thereafter they moved to Menominee, where Terri grew up and celebrated 44 years of marriage. George worked at Menominee Paper for several years and then Mariette Marine where he retired from. If anyone knew anything about George, they knew his love and passion for music. His voice echoed many stages from graduations, street dances and rodeos, weddings, family gatherings, to local establishments. He even cut a record back in 1975 that made it on the top 100 charts. George’s other passion was his family. He loved being a grandparent and all that came with it. Whether it was a horse show, football game, swim meet or basketball game, he was there. He loved his family more than anything and made them a priority in his life. George is survived by his wife Terri of 44 years. 3 sons Gerrid (Christine) MacNeil of Crivitz, Wis., Chris MacNeil of Menominee, Mich. and Michael MacNeil of Texas. 6 grandchildren Elise, Brody, Kaitlyn, Brady, Colin and Ethan; 2 brothers Ray (Kelly) Clark and Harry (Lori) Clark and special friends Sharon Cuffe, Lori Patzke, Marty and Ray Blank. George was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Al Shorey, 3 sisters Diane, Cheryl and Ann. The family would like to send a special thank you to Veteran’s Administration, Northern Lutheran and UP Hospice for all the support over the years. Parkinson’s Disease may have taken George’s voice, but he is now forever singing with the angels. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 12, 2022 beginning at 11:00am until 4:00pm at the Menominee Township Hall on Bay De Noc Drive O-1 Lane in Birch Creek.
