Harold Marion " Doc " Hilton, 94, of Ridgeville, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born on February 4, 1928 in Ridgeville, South Carolina, Harold was a son of the late Paul Tillman Hilton and Gussie Olivia (Welch) Hilton. Harold lived all of his life in the Sandridge Community of Berkeley County where he worked as a Farmer. He also retired from Westvaco Papermill in Charleston. Harold served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Harold will be remembered as a simple and down to earth man who could tell a great story and kept one listening. Harold is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shelvie Jean (Varner) Hilton; his daughter, Alice Lynn Hilton and his numerous brothers and sisters. Harold is survived by his son, Mark Hilton of Sandridge; his daughters, Susan Hilton of Sandridge, Cecelia H. Bond and her husband, Wilson of Summerville and his adopted daughter, Tonya Thompson of Sandridge; his granddaughters, Allison Bond of North Charleston and Annie Bond of Summerville. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road, Holly Hill, SC 29059. Funeral services to remember and honor Harold's life will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Sandridge First Baptist Church, 4677 State Road in Ridgeville, SC 29472. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow services in the church cemetery where Harold will be laid to rest next to his wife and his daughter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harold`s memory may be sent to the Sandridge First Baptist Church, 4677 State Rd. Ridgeville, SC 29472.
