It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Catharine Delaronde on February 27th, 2022, at Shellbrook Integrated Home Care in Shellbrook, SK at the age of 88 years.<br>Ruth was born in Leask, SK on April 7, 1933, to Bill and Hannah Sandin. She was the middle child of five siblings. She grew up on the family farm in Kilwinning and took her schooling at Spruce Glen School. She left the farm at a young age and moved to Prince Albert where she took a business course and became a legal secretary. She worked at a law firm in Prince Albert.<br>She met Vern Delaronde at a dance in Leask, SK and they were married on October 6th, 1949. They lived in Saskatoon for a time before moving to Vern’s family farm in Mont Nebo, SK. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before Vern passed in 2012.<br>Times were tough on the farm. Mom worked hard raising her family and growing huge gardens with acres of potatoes and fruit orchards. She also helped with farming by driving tractors and trucks during harvest. She supplemented their income by working at the service station in Mont Nebo. While in Mont Nebo she took part in sports such as curling and softball, enjoying many happy hours with friends and family. She was active in the Mont Nebo community working at the hall and curling rink.<br>In 1972 they sold the farm and moved to Prince Albert. Life became better for them. Mom started working at Woolco, which later became Wal-Mart, where she was an assistant manager. She was very proud of her accomplishments at Wal-Mart and enjoyed working there. She was especially proud of going to Toronto to help set up the Walmart store there, as it converted from Woolco. They bought a lakefront lot at Pratt Lake near Mont Nebo, and it was her special place to go with her family and friends. She dearly loved the cabin and went often even after Vern passed away.<br>Mom enjoyed curling in Prince Albert in the Woman’s Business League with her friends. She also took up Swedish rosemaling, attended classes in Shellbrook, and painted many wonderful keepsakes. She made many lifelong friendships in Mont Nebo and Prince Albert. She enjoyed her life in Prince Albert. Mom and Dad were able to travel to visit family. They went to Quebec, Disneyland, California, and made many trips to BC to visit Darrell & his family.<br>Mom was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She would attend all their events and cheer them on. She was a rock to troubled souls who needed her wisdom and advice taking in many under her wings of sharing and caring. She spent hours on the phone and in-person helping people. She had a strong faith and loved the Lord deeply- and her power of prayer got her family and friends through many difficult times.<br>Mom had a rich and fulfilling life surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October of 2021 and spent four months in Shellbrook hospital and the long-term care home. I want to thank Cathy Atkinson and Kerri McLeod for faithfully going to see her, comforting her, and caring for her. Thank you to the wonderful caring staff, nurses, doctors, and care home workers who provided such compassionate and wonderful care for her. As well as all her many friends and family who called, sent texts, loved her and upheld her in prayer throughout her time in hospital.<br>Ruth is survived by her son Wayne (Cheryl) of Alida, SK & his children Jennifer (Lyle), Kelly (Chad), and great-granddaughter Ruby. Jody (Derek), mother of his children Barb & stepdaughter Sarah; her daughter Wendy of Prince Albert; her granddaughter Ashley Padin (Aldrit) of Shellbrook, great-grandsons Milo & Odin; her grandchildren Joshua, Paige (Dylan) & Jordan; their mother Cindy; her daughter-in-law Saskia Delaronde; her special “daughter” Cathy Atkinson (Rod) & Rebecca & Blake; Dr. Alan Lovell who was a special friend and treated her whole family; She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were special to her.<br>Ruth was predeceased by her husband Vern; her son Darrell; her grandson Darcy; her parents Bill and Hannah Sandin; her siblings Judy (Ed) Owen, Gladys (Mervil) Faigrie, John (Alice) Sandin, David (Tinia) Sandin; her parents-in-law Fred and Clara Delaronde; her brothers-in-law Lawrence, Archie, Paul; & her sisters-in-law Verona & Louise.<br>There will be a graveside service held for Ruth on May 28th, 2022 at 2 PM at Mont Nebo Hall, then Aaseral Cemetery Mont Nebo, SK.  Condolences can be sent to the family on our website at www.mackenziechapel.ca.  Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium.  Brian & Bev Stobbs, Mark Gyoerick - Matayah Loyst - Mel Curle. 306.763.8488.
