Stephen Jackson Akin, age 69, of Millerton, Oklahoma, Tuesday, March 1, 2022, Wright City, Oklahoma. He was born on Friday, March 28, 1952 to Clarence Akin and Treva Tadlock Storey in De Queen, Arkansas.
Stephen enjoyed many things in life such as going to Rod Runs, finding treasures at yard sales, and tinkering on old cars. Stephen worked 37 years for Weyerhaeuser in Wright City before they closed and then he went to work at Setco in Idabel for 5 years before his retirement. He loved his family and was a man with a kind soul, loving and friendly to all he came in contact with, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Stephen is preceded in death by his father Clarence Akin; his mother and stepfather, Treva and Ed Storey; his brother, James Akin; a niece, Michelle; and a nephew, David.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Teresa Akin of Millerton, Oklahoma; his sisters and brothers in law, Henrietta and John Burnett of Idabel, Oklahoma and Ollie and James Williams of Idabel, Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Leola Akin of Idabel, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Mussett officiating. Interment will follow in the Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City, Oklahoma under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2022, from 6-8 P.M. at Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Akin, Jonathan Akin, Randy Hulbert, Kevin Jones, Ray Smalling, Benny Montgomery, and Gary Stover.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Stephen Jones, Tim Jones, Ricky Jones, and Steve Burgin.
