She went to Medina School and Oak River High School. She graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital as a registered nurse in 1936. Nursing jobs took her to Geneva, N.Y., Jacksonville, Florida, and Santa Barbara, California.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Following the war she married her childhood sweetheart, Bill Hornibrook, on Valentine&rsquo;s Day 1946. They returned to Blanshard RM to farm a mile from her childhood home. When Rivers Hospital opened in 1960, Clara returned to nursing on a fairly regular basis until 1983.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Clara enjoyed the arts. She played the piano as a child and learned to play the organ after retirement. She was a water colour painter and loved to paint the prairie landscape in every season.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Clara was predeceased by her husband Bill and daughter Carmen Neal as well as her brother Lawrence Short and sister Muriel Westwood. Her &ldquo;sailing mate and dance partner&rdquo; Fred Kruger who was a loving companion in her later years also predeceased her.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">She is survived by her older sister Hazel Patmore Skuce; her children Richard Hornibrook and Ruth Stewart; son-in-law Tom Neal; and by Glenda and Dan Broeska.
