Susan M. Kelemen Obituary

Susan Marie Kelemen (White) 82 years young of Highlands, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Long Branch to beloved parents, Goldie (Brent) and Joseph S. White Sr. (both deceased).  A graduate of Carteret High School in Carteret, she was employed as a legal secretary until she retired to enjoy life with her beloved husband of 64 years, Frank Joseph Kelemen.  Susan was an exceptional, hard-working role model to her three children.  Susan loved to swim and ski and together with her family built a vacation home in the Poconos.  She enjoyed traveling and after retirement moved from Carteret to live in Little River, South Carolina; Tarpon Springs, Florida, and then back to New Jersey to be close to family.  Susan was a super organized person who stayed current on world events.  She had an active social life and an infectious sense of humor.  She taught her children the values of hard work, commitment, dedication, loyalty, and the importance of staying active.  A devoted Catholic, she belonged to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Highlands where she attended weekly Mass.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Susan is predeceased by her only brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Eleanor (Chaillet) White of Colonia. Surviving are her husband, Frank (age 91); three devoted children and their spouses: Debra (Kelemen) and John Muniz of Stuart, Florida, Valerie (Kelemen) and Frank Montecalvo of Highlands, New Jersey, Frank S. and Melissa (Stydinger) Kelemen of Highlands, New Jersey.   Susan was blessed with six grandchildren, Matthew & Marcie (Menichetti) Muniz of Hobe Sound, Florida; Alexander Joseph (AJ) Muniz and his partner, Gary Choy-Shan of Carteret; Nicole (Montecalvo) and Michael Oppelt of Middletown, Frank and Paige (Lacina) Montecalvo of Rumson; Austen Kelemen of Middletown; and Zachary Kelemen of Highlands.  Susan was fortunate to have four great-grandchildren: Maya Avery Muniz, Goldie Maris & Campbell Jean Oppelt and Frank Rhodes Montecalvo; a niece and nephew; Joanne Kull and Joseph White Jr.; great-nieces and nephews, Kayla, Breanne and Emma Kull; Gabrielle, Joseph III and Shawn White.

Cremation is private.  There will be a celebration of Susan’s life 9 am on Saturday, April 2nd at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Highlands, for family and friends.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to: Invisible International—Montecalvo Education Platform, C/O Players Philanthropy Fund, 1122 Kenilworth Drive #201, Towson, MD 21204 or online at https://invisible.international/give/
