John Wesley Walls IV, age 72, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of John Wesley, III and Betty Lou (Jenkins) Walls, was born on September 5, 1949, in Ironton, Ohio. He graduated from Rock Hill High School in Ironton and went on to obtain his associate's degree in electronics technology through the DeVry Institute of Technology and the Ashland Vocational and Technical School. After his schooling, he received his first class Federal Communications license. For six years, he served in the Ohio National Guard rising to the rank of a lieutenant. He was employed with Ohio Valley Electric Corporation in Piketon, Ohio for several years before transferring to Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation in Madison in 1974. In December of 1978, he was united in marriage to the former Deborah Lynne Turner in Bristol, Tennessee. For many years, he was an electrical engineer at Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation where he retired on September 11, 2009.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion where he had served as a commander. In his spare time, he enjoyed sitting out in his shop, showing his grandchildren how to shoot guns, weld things together, and fix things around the shop, and had enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years. Mr. Walls passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
His life will be cherished by his wife of 43 years, Deborah of Madison; his son, John Wesley Walls, V and his wife, Amber of Madison; his daughters: Stephanie Edwards and her companion, Gary Burke of Madison; and Stacie Branstetter of Madison; his mother: Betty Lou Walls of Ironton; his brothers: Frank Walls, Timothy Walls (Lindy), Thomas Walls, and Mike Walls (Kim), all of Ironton; his grandchildren: George Steven (Sarah), Joshua, Jacob, Jaylyn, Brayden, Jace, Hunter, Clayton, and Carson; his great grandchild: Trey Edwards; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Walls, III and his brother, Elmer Walls.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765 on Madison's hilltop.
