Anne Hydrick Fox Fairfax, Virginia Obituary

Anne Hydrick Fox

Anne "Gee and GG" Hydrick Fox (Age 72) Anne "Gee and GG" Hydrick Fox, 72, of Urbanna, VA, passed away in the peaceful, early morning hours of Sunday, November 6, 2016, after a long battle with leukemia. Anne was born July 22, 1944 in Petersburg, VA, to Anne Branch Madison and Claude Kettle Hydrick. She grew up in Springfield, VA, where she attended elementary and middle school and Robert E. Lee High School. For more than 50 years, she served the community of Northern Virginia, touching the lives of innumerable people as an extraordinarily talented hair stylist. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Monk Vetock; son-in-law, Edward Vetock; her grandchildren: Nicole Vetock Bowie—wife of Ryan Bowie—and Brian Madison Vetock; great-granddaughter, Madison Elisabeth Bowie; and step-grandchildren: Carter and Sarah Fox. As one of four children, Anne is also survived by her sister, Josephine (Sweets) HydrickBrandes, and brothers: Claude (Cuddy) Hydrick Jr. and Lawton (Bo) Hydrick. Other survivors include her brother-in-law, Larry (Lar) Brandes; nephews: Peter Hydrick, Michael Brandes, and Christopher Hydrick; nieces: Kathleen (Kath) Brandes, Nancy (Nance) Brandes, Kimberly (Kimber) Brandes Ross, and Katie Hydrick; great-nieces: Kayla Brandes and Haylee Hydrick; and, a beautiful tapestry of long-time friends. Anne was preceded in death by her lovely parents, Claude and Anne Hydrick; her wonderful husband, Jack B. Fox; and step-son Daniel (Dan) Fox. While Anne was always extremely passionate about her work, nothing meant more to her than spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as unwinding and entertaining at her home—Foxwood—in Urbanna. In addition, she thoroughly enjoyed relaxing at the beach, cooking & baking, gardening, jamming fruits & canning vegetables, listening to music, shopping, interior decorating (especially for the holidays—), watching movies like some of her favorites: Ben Hur, Field of Dreams, Gone with the Wind, and Out of Africa, reading, collecting art work, in particular, P. Buckley Moss, laughing, and speaking out loudly, proudly, and with such conviction about all social issues. She was also a devout and long-time member of Christ Church in Saluda, VA. Anne had a wonderful, larger-than-life personality, did everything with such finesse and perfection, and lived life with a style and passion all of her own. She had such an impact on everyone she met, and she was the fiercest woman, in the best way possible. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, donations are being requested for Anne's two beloved caregivers: Josephine and Florence, who lovingly and unconditionally took care of her for many years. There will be a donation box at the funeral home and checks can be made out payable to Liz Vetock. For those who cannot attend the funeral service, please make checks out to Liz Vetock and mailed to: 5564 Anne Peake Dr., Fairfax, VA 22032. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, November 13 at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on Braddock Rd. in Fairfax, VA. Visitation hours will be from noon until 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
