Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Tillman

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Tillman, age 83, of 4885 Asbury Road passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at The Finley Hospital of natural causes. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Church. To celebrate Betty’s life friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Behr’s Funeral Home, where there will be a parish wake service said at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Elizabeth was born on July 26, 1928, in Cascade, IA, daughter of Frank and Bernadet (Hall) McPoland.

Betty worked at Diamond’s Cafeteria for several years until she married. Betty married John Tillman on November 22, 1956 at the Church of the Nativity. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and Catholic Daughters. Betty enjoyed camping, music and dancing, bingo, and her trips to the casino. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren
4 sisters; Eileen Nauman, Dubuque, IA
Margaret “Ginny” Schiel, Dubuque, IA
Shirley (Cletus) Maiers, Asbury, IA
a brother; Robert (Joann) McPoland, Asbury, IA
several neices and nephews

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Nancy in infancy, a son, Thomas, a grandson, Timothy John Tillman, 3 sisters, Theresa McPoland in infancy, Mary (George) Coffin, Lois (William) Bublitz, 3 brothers-in-law, Henry Nauman, Donald Anstoetter, John “Honus” Schiel

Memorials may be given to St. Patrick’s Church 1425 Iowa St., or Heritage Manor, 4885 Asbury Rd.
