Virginia “Ginger” Hoekstra

Virginia “Ginger” Hoekstra, 69, of Eureka, IL passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday February 22, 2022 at her residence.

She was born on February 5, 1953 in Alton, IL a daughter of Nelson and Edna Miller Moses. She married Edward N. Hoekstra on October 4, 1975 in East Alton, IL. He survives.

Survivors also include her children, Aria (Danal) Hise of Eureka; Joshua (Melissa) Hoekstra of Eureka; Samuel (Cathrine) Hoekstra of Carterville; Amanda Hoekstra of Eureka; Peter (Jacey) Hoekstra of Eureka; two brothers, Paul (Mary Ann) Moses of Wood River, IL; Gilbert (Lisa) Moses of Alton, IL; two sisters, Janet (Jerry) Hall of East Alton, IL; Mary Anne (Ray) Farley of Columbia, IL;  sister-in-law, Kathy Moses of East Alton, IL; 11 grandchildren, Wyatte, Jessie, Aidan, Morgan, Cullan, Reagan, Kirsten, Caden, Edward Oliver, Sebastian, Eugene.She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Moses.

Virginia was an LPN at Maple Lawn Nursing Home and a registered nurse at Eureka Hospital for many years.

Virginia was a founding member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Eureka where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was in charge of the blood drive at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Eureka. She was also a member of the YAYA’s.

Funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Eureka. Father Ryan Mattingly will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Rosary will be held on Friday February 25, 2022 at 7:15 p.m. at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka.
