David Livingston McIntosh

<p>David Livingston McIntosh went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2022, at the age of 102 years. He will be remembered and sadly missed by his loving family; children, Christopher of Victoria, Ian (Christine) of Summerland, and Nan (Rick) Cogbill of Summerland; grandchildren, Sarah (Gordon) Hawkes, Laura (David) Fairfield, Steven (Destini) Cogbill, Carmen McIntosh, and Spencer McIntosh; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Theodore, Desmond, Eleanor Hawkes, Chloe and Jasper Fairfield.</p> <p>David was born on December 26, 1919, in Victoria, BC, the youngest child of George and Elizabeth McIntosh. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings and his loving wife of 69 years, Audrey, in 2021.</p> <p>David started his formal education at Quadra Street Primary Education School and finished with being awarded his Ph.D. in Agriculture from the University of Toronto in 1951.</p> <p>David was resilient and adaptable throughout his life, holding a variety of jobs before enlisting in the army, where he became a radar technician.&nbsp; He served in WWII, being posted to England, India, and Burma before returning to Canada.</p> <p>David and Audrey were married in 1951 in Ontario, then moved west and settled in Summerland where they raised their family.&nbsp; David had a long and satisfying career as a plant pathologist at the Summerland Research Station. He was a very community-minded volunteer involved with Scouts, Summerland Singers and Players, Summerland Marching Band, School Board, Fall Fair, Action Fest, Meals on Wheels delivery, and the reading program at Giants Head School. He was a flute player, a fly fisherman, an avid tennis player, and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, travelling, and keeping up on the news of his children and grandchildren.</p> <p>David was a lifelong learner. He was generous with his time, resources, and skills. He loved his family and was always happy to lend a hand in any way he could. He will be greatly missed.</p> <p>A Memorial Service was held on Monday, March&nbsp;14, 2022,&nbsp;at 1:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Homes Rosedale Chapel in Summerland, BC.
