Dateline-Epping, NH Harvard Milton Carter, 86, died December 10, 2015 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, NH. He was born June 26, 1929 in Bar Harbor, ME., son of the late Byard and Ida (Hooper) Carter. Harvard grew up in Seal Harbor, ME. to age 11. The family moved to Haverhill, MA. where Harvard graduated from Haverhill H.S., Class of 1947. In 1949, he married his high school sweet-heart, Mary "Rachel" Hill. Harvard was a veteran of the US Air Force. He served overseas during the Korean War, but not directly in Korea. Harvard started out as a very talented automobile mechanic and became the service manager for Ryan Motors in Haverhill, MA. where he was employed for over 20 years. He also taught mechanical classes at Foss Motors in Exeter for a brief time. Later, he worked at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in the maintenance area also working on the Sheriff's vehicles when needed. He retired in 1991 after 11 years of employment. He and Rachel were 35+ year residents of Epping, NH and were formerly of Plaistow, NH and Haverhill, MA. Harvard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed fixing everything that needed fixing. He proudly built their family home in Plaistow, enjoyed making fine furniture for his family and did some taxidermy work as well. He was always a fond dog owner. Harvard was predeceased by a daughter, Dawn Carter, who passed away in 1996 and a sister, Lillian Sundeen. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Rachel Carter, 2 daughters, Linda Furlong and Cheryl Carter, 2 grandchildren, Melanie Furlong and Crystal Carter. Services: Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping, NH. Memorial service will follow on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Plaistow Cemetery, Plaistow, NH.
